What do you post on Twitter? Are you forgetting that you should not give out personal information? Especially where you are located? Many people are posting where they are and what they are doing at that exact moment. This is something we learned when we first started using chats and social networking sites not to do. Now, sites are encouraging it.
Not only are average Americans posting information that should not be public, but news stations are. There was a tweet today from USA Breaking news that read, “Wikileaks founder Julian Assange is in Britain & police know where but have not acted on arrest warrant yet.” Very interesting both governments would let information out like that.
There was another tweet a couple months back from the same source that the United States knew where Osama Bin Laden was. You can now translate tweets and I am sure that information going public on the web threatened our chances of capturing him.
How do we tell the generation who is just becoming familiar with the internet not to publicize information that could cause them harm when we are all doing it now? It seems no one is setting a good example.

I think that Twitter as well as Facebook are both guilty of this. I think it is extremely weird to know where someone is as they are updating their status. I know that you can keep your status on Twitter and Facebook private, but I just don’t see the point in letting everyone know where you’re at throughout the day. I’m not sure if it’s to market where you’re going or what you’re about to do, but in many ways I find it creepy.

I agree with you i think people do not know when they are going to far with social netwroks. They should be fun wa to keep up with firends or talk to people from work, but we stil need to use our brians. We do not tell everyone we see on the streets where we are gonig so why would you but this up on the internet for everyone to see it. Someone could really get hurt by doing this.

I completely agree with you. This is a very scary epidemic now a days. I have also heard of websites and blogs that collect that type of data. It’s almost like a database for burglers. Basically I am say “Hey! I’m not home right now because I am in Mexico for a week, but since my address, home phone number and full name are posted on here, just look me up and go break in.” I might as well be an inviation for crime.

It is very scary that people are putting their every move and every location they are at and who with. I know on facebook there is an app where you can say where you are at and tag people along with you. Once it is on facebook you can click on the address and it will mapquest it for you. Such as your place of work or even your home. Very creepy!
